  The funeral services will be held at Trinity Worship Center, 3157 S. Church Street in Burlington on Wednesday, August 27, 2003, at 1 p.m. The officiating ministers are the Rev. Darrell Cox, pastor ; the Rev. Billy Taylor, pastor of Pisgah View Pentecostal Holiness Church in Asheville and the Rev. Thomas H. McGhee, superintendent of the Cornerstone Conference. The burial will follow the service at Alamance Memorial Park.
  He was a native of Vance County and the son of the late Ernest Edward Hoyle and the late Mary Delilah Faulkner Hoyle. He was preceded in death by his dear wife, Adella Elizabeth Sodosky Hoyle.
  The Rev. Hoyle was a member of Trinity Worship Center. He graduated from Holmes College of the Bible in Greenville, S.C. and received degrees from Emanuel College in Franklin Springs, Ga. and Lenoir Rhyne College in Hickory. He pastored at Wilson Street Pentecostal Holiness Church in Martinsville, Va; Altamahaw Pentecostal Holiness Church; Thomasville Pentecostal Holiness Church; Lincolnton Pentecostal Holiness Church; Maiden Pentecostal Holiness Church; Emanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church in Dry Fork ,Va; Altavista Holiness Pentecostal Church and Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church in Gladys, Va. He served as executive treasurer and corresponding secretary for the Western North Carolina Conference of Pentecostal Church. He presided as the superintendent of the Western North Carolina Conference and as a member of the general board of administration. The Rev. Hoyle became a member of the conference in 1935 giving him the longest seniority in the Western N.C. Conference of Pentecostal Holiness Churches. He most recently served as a volunteer Chaplain at the Bardolph Adult Center for Enrichment in Greensboro. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He enjoyed singing in church and his carpentry skills helped in the construction of many churches.
  Survivors include his sons, Earl Stanley Hoyle of Greensboro; the Rev. Hugh Elliott Hoyle and his wife, Lois of Pleasant Garden and David Leslie Hoyle and his wife, Kymme of Greensboro; grandchildren, Benjamin Earl Hoyle and Julieanne Elizabeth Hoyle both of Pleasant Garden; brothers, Ernest Wheeler Hoyle of Graham, Paul Hoyle and Beacham Hoyle both of Burlington, Alfred Hoyle of Palm Coast, Fla. and Bobby Hoyle of Virginia Beach, Va; sisters, Mrs. Bertha Mae Mullins of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mrs. Ruth Qualls, Mrs. Pauline Tate and Mrs. Catherine Michael all of Burlington.
  He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers, Edwin Alvin Hoyle, Sr., the Rev. Robert B. Hoyle and Henry T. Hoyle; sister, Rosa Dorthel "Dot" Robinson.
  The family will receive friends from 6-8p.m. on Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times the family will be at the home of the sister, Catherine Michael, 1407 Ridgecrest Avenue in Burlington.⁵

  HENDERSON - Grace Hoyle Barrett, 81, of Davis Health Care in Wilmington, formerly of Henderson, N.C., died Saturday, May 14, 2005, in Wilmington, N.C. after a long Struggle with Alzheimer's Disease.
  Born February 25, 1924, in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late David Lee and Louise Harris Hoyle.
  A graveside funeral service will be held Thursday at 4:00 p.m., at Carey Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by Dr. Al James. A memorial service will follow at 5:00 p.m. at Carey Baptist Church.
  Surviving are three daughters, Linda Barrett, of Durham, N.C., Anne B. Huffine, of Wilmington, N.C; and Lisa B. Parker, and husband Bob, of Atlanta, Georgia; a sister, Marguerite H. Smith, of Epsom, N.C; a brother, Arch Hoyle, of Henderson; and three grandchildren, Will Huffine and Leigh Huffine, and their father, David, of Wilmington, N.C., and Heather Parker, of Jacksonville, Florida. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Forrest Maxwell "Max" Barrett Jr.³

  Mr. John D. Hoyle, who lived near Amos' Mill, died suddenly last Saturday while turkey hunting. He went to Mr. Oliver Rowland's that morning and had hunted nearly all day, appearing to be in his usual health. Late in the afternoon he shot and crippled a turkey and while walking along in search of it he was seen to stagger and drop on his knees and one elbow. Two or three minutes later he was dead. Messrs. Ed. W. Falkner, Walter Hoyle(son), Jack Edwards and George Rowland, son of Mr. Oliver Rowland were of the hunting party. The dead man was removed to his home and buried Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Epsom.⁴

  He was born in Vance County, the son of Mable Hoyle and the late Clifton A. Hoyle, and was an employee of Electric Motor Shop in Wake Forest.
  
  Surviving: his mother, Mable Hoyle of Franklinton; stepchildren, Jimmy Arnold Jr. of Bunn, Angie Pieske of Minnesota and Shelia Brown of Louisburg; sisters, Rachel Shelton of Bunn, Carolyn Pernell of Franklinton, Ruth Garver of Garner and Ann Duncan of Henderson; brother, Clifton H. Hoyle of Wake Forest; and eight step-grandchildren.
  
  He was preceded in death by his sister, Edith Hoyle Ayscue.¹
