She was a young woman of much attractiveness and lovable disposition and the circumstances of her death, she having had an infant a day or so old, are peculiarly sad.
  She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Childs, who are ill with influenza at their home here. Dr. and Mrs. T.H. Faulkner of Kinston are here to attend the funeral.
  Other cases of influenza here are improving. Fred Pinkston who had influenza is improving.²

Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late Albert Luco Choplin and Ella Ayscue Choplin. He was the widower of Marie Perry Choplin.
  Mr. Choplin was a retired truck driver for Associated Transport Inc. and Jenkins Oil Company. A United States Navy Veteran of World War II, he was a recipient of the American Area Campaign Medal and the Victory Medal. He attended South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church.
  Funeral services will be held Friday, April 29, 2011, at 11 a.m. at South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church, conducted by the Rev. Frank Sossamon and Greg Jones. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
  Surviving are a daughter, Faith Choplin Harris, and husband Donald, of Norlina; two granddaughters, Donna Harris Renn, and husband Mike, and Jennifer Harris Patterson, both of Norlina; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Hattie C. Adcock, Irene C.
  Stallings and Ada C. Coghill; and two brothers, Walter Choplin and William Choplin.
  The family will receive friends Friday, from 10 to 11 a.m., at South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church. All other times, they will be at the home of Faith and Donald Harris, 2388 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Norlina.
  Serving as active pallbearers will be Mike Choplin, Jerry Patterson, Hugh Hoyle, Britt Paynter, Ronnie Mills, Ken Bowden, Thomas Coghill Jr., Denny Ray Peoples, Russell Harris and Junior Manning. The staff of Franklin Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center will serve as honorary pallbearers.³
