- Obituary: On 15 April 2010 at Henderson, Vance Co., NC, Thomas M. "Tom" Coghill Jr., 73, of 737 Rock Mill Road, Henderson, N.C., died Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at Duke University Medical Center. Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late Thomas M. Coghill Sr. and Ozell Perry Coghill.
Mr. Coghill was owner and operator of Kerr Lake Caterers. He was the former owner and operator of Coghill's Quik Pick and Grill. He was a member of South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 16, 2010, at 11 a.m., at South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church, conducted by the Rev. Frank Sossamon and Dr. John Hedgepeth. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
Surviving are his wife, Juanita Neal "Nita" Coghill; two daughters, Donna H. Neblett, and husband, Jim, of Raleigh, N.C., and Patricia H.
Ellington, and husband, Steve, of Henderson; a son, Thomas M. Coghill III, and wife, Christie, of Clayton, N.C; James Williams, who he loved as a son; two sisters, Dixie C. Powell and Frankie C.
Reardon, both of Henderson; a brother, William "Bill" Coghill, of Durham, N.C; and seven grandchildren, Ray Ellington, Natalie Thomas, Addison Godfrey, Chelsea Godfrey, Zachary Coghill, Zeke Coghill, and Zeb Coghill.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Tex Donald Coghill.
The family will receive friends today, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Flowers Funeral Home. All other times, they will be at the home, 737 Rock Mill Road, Henderson.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Don Coghill, Lang Coghill, Mel Coghill, Stacy Coghill, Chris Coghill, Sam Coghill, Mitch Powell, Rodney Powell, Scott Powell, and Blair Thomas. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Sam Meador, Skeeter Edwards, Raymond Abbott, and Sam Cooper.1
