Obituary: On 12 September 2006 at Henderson, Vance Co., NC, JACKSONVILLE - Florence Falkner Oakley, of 414 Raintree Road, Jacksonville, N.C., formerly of Henderson, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2006, at her home. Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Hammie Overton and Eugenia Alice Hicks Falkner. She was the widow of Robert Lee Oakley.
Mrs. Oakley was a homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she served as children's coordinator and pianist of the Elementary Sunday School Department. She also served as secretary of the Sunday School, assisted with the children's choirs, and served on the following church organizations: Cora Hight Memorial, Altar Guild, Work Area on Education, Circle Chairwoman of the United Methodist Women, Administrative Board member and a member of the L&F Club.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, 2006, at Elmwood Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Charles M. Cook.
Surviving are a daughter, Rebecca Oakley Ellen, and husband Ronald, of Jacksonville, N.C; her grandchildren, Dr. and Mrs. Robert T. Hoyle, of Raleigh, N.C., Mr. and Mrs. Joe R. Barnette Jr., and their children, Robert and Jacob Barnett, of Greensboro, N.C., Chris Ellen of Charlotte, N.C., Angela Ellen and her children, Kody and Kaleb Kroger, of Jacksonville, N.C., and Sarah and Adam Church, and their children, Kohlby and Julia Church, of Jacksonville, N.C. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mrs. Alice F. Allen, Mrs. Martha F. Mitchell, and Mrs. Mary Gene F. Teiser; and five brothers, Mr. Douglas T. Falkner, Mr. Elvin O. Falkner, Mr. Hamilton H. Falkner, Mr. John Macy Falkner, and Mr. Robert M. Falkner.⁵
Burial*: She was buried circa 13 September 2006 at Elmwood Cemetery, Henderson, Vance Co., NC.²

Obituary: On 8 October 2003 at Henderson, Vance Co., NC, HENDERSON - Harry Richard "Rick" Falkner, 44, of 1560 Tollie Weldon Road died Wednesday morning, Oct. 8, 2003, at Duke University Medical Center. A native of Vance County, he was the son of the late Sidney Alexander and Nellie Ayscue Falkner.

He was medically retired and was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the New Bethel Baptist Church

by the Rev. Alfred Ayscue. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Lassiter Falkner; one stepson, Russell M. Dickerson of Henderson; two sisters, Faye F. Waddell of Graham and Alicia F. Bowman of Henderson; and one brother, Sidney Alexander "Al" Falkner Jr. of Henderson.

The family will receive friends Friday night from 7 until 8:30 at the J.M. White

Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of Alicia Bowman at 1600 Tollie Weldon Road.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Tony Bowman, Nelson Waddell, Pete Overton, Willie Perkinson, Ronald Pittman and Carl Galebach.

Arrangements are by the J.M. White Funeral Home.³
