- Obituary: On 13 February 1902 at Henderson, Vance Co., NC, Died at Ripe Old Age--- Mrs. Louisa Ayscue, relict of Mr. Solomon Ayscue, died at her home about 3 1/2 or 4 miles below Epsom last Saturday, age 80 years, 8 months and 20 days. In her death a truly good woman has passed away. she was a consistent member of the church and held her membership at Liberty (Christian) church nearly all her life. Always doing deeds of kindness she served her Master and her generation well and faithfully and was loved by all who knew her.
Mrs. Ayscue was the mother of 10 children, 8 of them are living, the 2 dead being the oldest girl and the youngest boy. Dr. D.W. Hardee, who officiated as undertaker at the burial, has obtained for teh Gold Leaf the following information concerning her descendents: Those living are B. Franklin Ayscue, aged 59, William M.57; J. Mat, 55; Thomas L., 53; L. Green, 50; Annie L., died in infancy; Richard G., 45; J. Sidney, 43; Charles H. dead, 30; Mrs. Lula N. Lassiter, 38. There are 38 grand-children and 10 dead. She had 11 great-grand-children.5

Mrs. Skittlethorpe, the former Miss. Ethel Pearl Alligood, was a native of Beaufort County, but had been living in Virginia the past eight years. She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church of Bath.
Surviving are her husband, two daughters, Miss Lou Skittlethorpe, of the home, and Mrs. Jimmy Newberry of Hilton Village; two sons McDonald and Tayloe Newman Skittlethorpe of Hilton Village; two grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Harold Hawkins and Mrs. Josephine Jones,
both of Washington.3

Surviving: his mother, Nannie Rosa "Dub" Ayscue of Louisburg; sisters, Sarah Ayscue, Rose Pernell and Elsie Stallings, all of Louisburg; brothers, John Ayscue, William Ayscue and Tom Ayscue, all of Louisburg, and Raymond Ayscue of Henderson.1
