Surviving are two daughters: Mrs. J. W. Mitchem of Charlotte and Mrs. J. E. Maddox of Newport News, VA; two sons: Eugene Stuart and Leonard Stuart of Charlotte; a sister, Mrs. Douglas Duke of Norfolk, VA; a brother, Garland Faulkner of Zebulon; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as pall-bearers.⁶

Ayscue, of Alert, Stacey Faulkner, of the home, and Brittany Faulkner, of the home; six sons, Matthew Faulkner, of Henderson, Wayne Faulkner, of Alert, Perry Allen Faulkner, of Alert, Chad Faulkner, of the home, Perry A. Faulkner III, of Warrenton, and Justin Faulkner, of Warrenton; three sisters, Edna D. Thomas, of Kittrell, Shirley D. Roberson, of Henderson, and Rita F. Boyd, of Oxford; six brothers, Douglas Faulkner, of Alert, Fulton Faulkner, of Alert, Dwight Faulkner, of Louisburg, Kirk Faulkner, of Louisburg, Gary Faulkner, of Louisburg, and Thurston Faulkner, of Youngsville; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Faulkner and Bruce Dickerson; and a sister, Mildred D. Patton.¹

Obituary: On 16 September 2008 at Raleigh, Wake Co., NC, Ralph Fleming Faulkner, 75, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, September 13, 2008 after a brief battle with cancer. Ralph was a devoted and loving son, husband, father, grandfather and greatgrandfather. Ralph was born December 5, 1932 in Franklin County on the farm where he was raised. He served in the armed forces as a MP in the Korean War. Ralph worked as a machinist at Westinghouse for 35 years and also worked at ABB and BMI. After retirement, Ralph liked delivering vehicles for Capital Ford. He was a former Commander and Lifetime member of the American Legion Post 1 and a member of the 40/8. Ralph was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. He was an avid NASCAR fan.
Funeral service 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545.
The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. and other times at the home, 3919 Butler Blvd., Raleigh, NC 27604. Burial, Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC 27603.

Obituary: On 28 May 2007 at Durham, Durham Co., NC, DURHAM - Ralph Gill Faulkner, born in Henderson on July 9, 1924, died May 25, in the arms of his sweetheart of 63 years. He was surrounded by each of his children and grandchildren, who loved him dearly. When he passed, he was under the kind and attentive care of those in Durham Regional's ICU.

He led a life of 82 years, full of compassion and giving to all who were touched by him. His generosity and commitment to helping the lives of others were a part of his personal life as well as his professional life with the NC State Employment Security Commission, as exhibited by his receiving the Governor's award of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine.

Ralph graduated from Vance Co. Business College, was a retired Navy and Naval Reserve officer and retired from the state in 1984.

His faith and his church, Calvary Baptist Church, were precious to him. There he was a deacon, Sunday school superintendent, director of training union, as well as holding many other responsible positions. He was a devoted Duke fan and enjoyed years of being secretary of the Durham Sports Club. He was a member of the American Legion as Commander, the Forty and Eight as secretary and the Fleet Reserve as secretary. Over the years, he was president of many PTA organizations and served on many local school advisory boards and committees.

Visitation with the family will be at Calvary Baptist Church on Tuesday, May 29, at 11:30 a.m. His service will follow at the church at 1 p.m. Burial is at New Sandy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Henderson at 3:30 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Ron Bobbitt, Jimmy Cole, Brady Faulkner, Carl Edwards Jr., Bobby Hall and Larry Oakley. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Mitchell Bible Class and members of the Fleet Reserve Unit 52.

The family will be at 206 Accura Court, Durham, at all times other than the visitation and services.

Most of all, Ralph was an example of enduring love and compassion to his family and friends. He adored his wife every day of their tender romance, beginning when they were 18 years old. She was his life, as he was and is, hers. His family and friends will miss his compassion for others, his profound wit, his devotion to his family and his courage to stand up for what he believed was right. The examples he has given us will live on in us and we will miss him dearly.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Margie Muckenfuss Faulkner; daughters, Gail Faulkner Hudson and Kathy Matheson (husband Steve); grandchildren, Steven Matheson (wife Gina) of Durham, Cressent Hudson Pressly, M.D., (husband Paul) of Winston Salem, Katie Hudson Collini (husband Chuck) of Atlanta, currently in Durham, Stephanie Matheson Swearingen (husband Stoney) of Durham and Abigail Matheson of Durham; great-grandchildren, Starlyn Swearingen, Kacie Matheson, Stormey Swearingen, Eli Matheson, Rachel Collini and Cooper Pressly; sister, Anne Edwards (husband Carl); and granddogs, Fiona and Charlie.

He is preceded in death by his father, Early Faulkner; mother, Pearl Faulkner; brother, Albert Faulkner; and sisters, Lula Davis and Jesse Greene.
