Lewis Forkner, Edmond Hodges, and Obed Baker, Elders of the Baptist Church in the Hollow Settlement were given 10 acres of land on Loville Creek at t he middle fork of Ararat River. The land is contained in a tract granted to Charles Word by the State of N.C.. The land was given in consideration of the real desire he has to promote the worship of the only true God and the encouragement of schools of useful knowledge.¹

Joseph is 86 years old and was born in N.C. Living with him is Nancy Falkner, age 34 born in Alabama. Also living with him is Lucinda Falkner, age 5 born in Mississippi.⁶
